Community

One of our goals has always been to build community. That's our tagline and we talk about it a lot. In fact we named our campus in Malawi "Namanda Community Center". But talk can be big until you begin to see it in action. After building our Learning Center this summer, we invited the chiefs from the area surrounding our campus to help us open the center. They were glad to come and we had a great celebration with them. Our children sang songs that they had written about their lives, we had lots of good food and fun.

Last week, the chiefs came back to our campus, this time to help us build more composting mounds for fertilizing our fields and to have a meeting of their own. They have decided that our campus is the best place for community meetings. The big name that we tagged on our property with hope that it would fulfill its potential is becoming a reality. A true Community Center where children are fed, people can gather, learning to read is a reality and working together as a community is not just a dream.

We eat breakfast in Africa!

My favorite children's book is "We Eat Dinner in the Bathtub", a charming story of how two boys enjoy the different ways they live their lives. Taking from that theme, we at Circle of Hope International are starting this blog to discuss the ways we live our lives in this diverse and amazing world.

I hope that you'll enjoy our news updates, stories and pictures as we share about our children in Malawi, Africa.
Just to get us started here are a few pictures of our summer teams eating breakfast in Africa!
This is Chris. He is making juice for his breakfast from the seeds of the Baobab Tree. Yum??
Our Malawian pastors Phiri, Lungah and Mwatchipa enjoy breakfast lunch and supper!
